SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN REVEALS ONLY FIFTY MP’S BACK MAHINDA AS PM

Only 50 MPs support Mahinda as PM

A signature campaign launched this morning (24) to retain PM Mahinda Rajapaksa as PM, has failed, reports say.

The signature campaign, conducted at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) office at Nelum Mawatha was held to urge President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to retain Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister.

SLPP secretary Sagara Kariyawasam had invited SLPPers as well as MPs who recently crossed over to the government, to sign. They had hoped to present the signed document to the President today.

However, it is reported that less than 50 have added their signatures. This attempt spearheaded by Basil Rajapaksa had failed after many had declined to sign, stating they are against retaining Mahinda Rajapaksa as PM.
