SLPP breakaway factions to form new party!
The parliamentarians who broke away from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) have reportedly decided to form a new political party with the aim of contesting the forthcoming general election.
A senior spokesman for the party has said it hopes to invite a senior leader of the current government to take over the leadership.
However, he had said that the name of that leader would not be disclosed yet.The SLPP’s partner parties, the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna, the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, the New Left Front and other political parties have reportedly agreed to join the new political party.
