Villain of the Sinhala cinema, passes away
Veteran Sri Lankan actor and stunt director – Wilson Karunarathne, fondly known as Wilson Karu, has passed away.
Wilson (79) was receiving treatment in hospital at the time of his demise.
Karunaratne is regarded as one of Sinhala cinema’s most recognizable villains, having appeared in over 240 films in a variety of genres, primarily as the main antagonist.
He entered the Sinhala cinema in ‘Hadawath Naththo’ and has since acted in many films including ‘Jeewana Ganga’, ‘Saradiyel ge putha’ and ‘Ko Hathuro’.
