US grants $ 19 mn. to solve the energy crisis
The United States has provided $ 19 million (approximately Rs. 6.6 billion) in grants to Sri Lanka’s energy sector.
These funds are expected to be used to strengthen Sri Lanka’s renewable energy sector.
A meeting between the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera and the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung was also held in this regard.
The US Ambassador in a Twitter post regarding the grant said that a steady transition to renewable energy will help put SL on the path toward economic recovery, adding that the $19 million grant will help SL’s power sector become more reliable, sustainable, and efficient.
