Over 500 graduates employed in labor jobs
About 600 graduates are employed in labor jobs at governmental institutions across the country, Convener of the United Primary Services Graduate Association Ravindra Dharmasri said. He said that these graduates are employed as sanitary workers, surveying assistants, office assistants, laboratory assistants and library assistants.
In addition to this, Mr. Dharmasri said that around 25,000 graduates are engaged in jobs such as Grama Niladharis, agricultural research officers and management assistants.The Association requested the government to change the titles of these labour jobs and protect the dignity that befits the degree because the graduates in labor jobs are currently suffering from severe mental stress.
