Sri Lankan Specialist Surgeon Dr. Ananda Jayawardena has successfully removed 13.5 liters of fat from a woman’s abdomen through liposuction surgery.

Dr. Jayawardena said that the surgery was performed at a private hospital in Kandy and the patient, a 61-year-old retired teacher from Panadura is in stable condition with no complications post surgery.

“Despite the risks, we successfully removed 13.5 liters of fat, which is a very large amount. On an average, 4 to 5 liters have been removed elsewhere in the world through similar surgeries. This is a rare occurrence with such a large amount of fat” he further said
