“Web sites kept slandering me, I kept issuing gazettes” – Sirisena
Former President and Polonnaruwa District Parliamentarian Maithripala Sirisena has alleged that some of the gazette notifications signed during his presidency have not yet been implemented.
Addressing an event at the BMICH Sirisena said that he issued the gazette notifications for the protection of the environment.
He said he was surprised that the current government was removing soil and sand transport licenses.
“During my presidency, I signed 65 gazette notifications. Three months after that I stepped down from my post. I even issued a gazette making it mandatory to register chain saws. Some made fun of me for it and some web sites slandered me to bits. The only thing they didn’t do was remove parts of my body.”
