Govt. to scrap tri-forces security to ex-Presidents
The government has decided to remove the security provided by the tri-forces to former Presidents from next week, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said in Parliament today (Dec. 17).
He added that only police security will be provided to the former Presidents.
Noting that Rs. 1,448 million had been spent to maintain former Presidents for the last eleven months and 15 days, he pointed out that it is a waste of public money.He also said that decisions on the security of former Presidents will be taken after a review of their security every six months.
