Wijesinghe Pathirage Harindra Madhava Wijesinghe, popularly known as Madhava Wijesinghe, is an actor, director in Sri Lankan cinema, Théâtre and television as a television host. Madhava has had absolutely no hereditary affiliations to his talent but it is owing to innate talent of his .Had commenced as a child artist, Madhava became one of the popular television presenters in Sri Lanka by co- hosting the reality show Derana Little Star which he had continued from the inception and also the very popular musical chat program Champions Stars unlimited with Peshala Manoj and Sachini Nipunsala, a very popular trio.
He was born on 18 June 1988 in Sri Jayewardenepura Colombo, Sri Lanka as the second child of the family. His father Wijesinghe Pathirage Padmasena Perera,had been a Deputy General Manager of State Mortgage and Investment Bank, .while his mother Kahandawa Appuhamillage Malkanthi Kahandawa a retired state employee.. He has one brother, Gayan Wijesinghe who is an assistant accountant. Madhava had completed his primary education in Maharagama Dharmashoka College, thereafter, had entered Lumbini College for his secondary education. In 2011, Madhava obtained the Diploma in Writer-ship and Communication from the Department of Sinhala and Mass Communication, in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura University Then he had successfully completed a Diploma in Television Program Production Techniques and Video Technology at the National Youth Services Council, Maharagama.
He is married to Nanduni Ranasinghe where the wedding was celebrated on 26th October 2020. A graduate from Tianjin Medical University, China, Nanduni hails from an artistic family with veteran actor Douglas Ranasinghe is her paternal uncle,while popular radio personality Thilaka Ranasinghe, is her paternal aunt. popular actor Saranga Disasekera is her cousin brother and actress Dinakshi Priyasad his sister -in-law.
In 1993 at the age of five, Madhava made his debut acting role in the disapprovingly celebrated movie Chanda Kinnari directed by Asoka Handagama which was later screened in 1998. In the film, he played the ‘youngest son’ of the lead actress Swarna Mallawarachchi with lead actor veteran Hemasiri Liyanage.
While being active in State Children’s Drama Festival, he hosted student programs on the Independent television channel and Sirasa TVand appeared in many television commercials. The lead role played at the State Drama Festival was rewarded him a merit certificate. Then he played the lead role in an award-winning play produced by Gayathri Heenatigama at the State Drama Festival.
In 2005, Madhava Wijesinghe joined TV Derana as a presenter with his educational qualifications in writer ship, communication, with the diploma in television program production techniques. Having a huge competency in television techniques Madhava presented of the children’s reality show Little Star along with Sachini Nipunsala also having a wide knowledge and enormous expertise in hosting. The duo have successfully presented to precision all 10 seasons of the popular reality show to date from its inception.. In addition, he currently works as the co-presenter of the musical chat program Derana Champions Stars Unlimited along with Sachini Nipunsala and Peshala Manoj, the trio have made this program very popular described by Peshala as the “Hadawathe wedasatahana”. In 2009, he played lead role of ‘Kasun’, along with Dinakshie Priyasad in the television series Wassana Sihinaya directed by Janaka Siriwardana. The serial was based on a novel written by Upul Shantha Sannasgala.
In 2011, he played the role of ‘Anuhas’ in the television serial Thurya. The serial became the turning point in his acting career. In 2013, he acted in the serial Hima Kandu with a supportive role. Then in 2014, he appeared in the television serial Rana. In the same year, he joined with the cast of soap opera Sujatha where he played the role of ‘Shakya’. In the meantime, he made comeback in the cinema portraying the biographical film Anagarika Dharmapala Srimathano directed by Sanath Abeysekara.
In 2015, he performed in the stage play Nattukkari produced by Namal Weeramuni a long-standing popular play produced in the late 1960’s. In 2016, Madhava starred in two television serials Package and Warna. The in 2017, he played the role ‘Vihanga’ in the soap opera Salsapuna. In 2018, Madhava Wijesinghe played the role of ‘Tharindu’ the serial Sanda Pini Wessa. The in 2019, he appeared in the serial Thodu portraying another caring character. In the same year, he acted in the serial Neela Pabalu.
In addition to acting, he is a popular figure in music videos where he appeared in more than fifty music videos for several singers such as TM Jayaratne Roshan Fernando, Prasanga Thisera, Raween Kanishka, Laksman Wijesekara and Ruwan Fernando. Meanwhile, he created his own production company, ‘INNOV 8 Sri Lanka’ in which produces television shows, music videos and commercials Madhava is busy with the work in his production company hence not focusing much on his acting career only interested in the Derana Little Star and Champions Stars Unlimited which is telecast uninterruptedly every Saturday for almost a decade to date.,.
Madhava had been a sought after young actor from the year 2009 to year portraying many roles in many teledrama’s namely Wassana Sihinaya,Thurya,Hima Kandu,Rana,Sujatha,Muhunu Pothe,Package, Warna,Salsapuna,Sikurulanthe,Nisala Sanda Oba,Sanda Pini Wessa,Thodu and Neela Pabalu.Owing to been very busy portraying roles in tele dramas Madhava had not had much time to accept roles in films..In year 1993 he portrayed the role of a son in the film Chanda Kinnari and in year 2014 portrayed the role of a reporter in the film Anagarika Dharmapala Sirimathano.
