Public protests in many areas demanding President’s resignation
Public protests were held in several areas across Sri Lanka today calling on the President and the government to resign immediately.
Public protests have been staged in a number of areas, including the Matara, Kurunegala, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Chilaw, Kegalle, and Gampaha areas, as well as the Free Trade Zones in Katunayake and Koggala.
Nearly 1000 protests have been staged in several cities across the country today causing traffic congestion.
A large number of people are reported to have participated in the public protests that were held in the Matara, Kurunegala, and Anuradhapura areas.
A massive crowd was also witnessed at the Galle Face Green in Colombo, where the ‘occupy Galle Face’ public protest is underway for the 20th consecutive day today. (NewsWire)
