Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has reportedly informed the special Cabinet meeting held today that he will make a special statement on Monday.

According to Cabinet sources, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has requested Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to consider resigning making way for an interim government under a new Prime Minister.

After that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has reportedly informed the meeting he will make a statement about it on Monday.

Prime Minister’s office denied social media reports which claimed Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has already resigned.
