Laugfs fined Rs. 01 mn. for selling overpriced rice!
Officials of the Gampaha District Consumer Affairs Authority have reportedly imposed a fine of Rs. one million on the Kiribathgoda branch of the Laugfs Supermarket today (Jan 27).
The fine was imposed after CAA officials filed a case with the Mahara Court over the supermarket selling a kilo of local white rice for Rs. 255.
The government imposed MRP of a kilo of white rice is Rs. 250 and offenders can be fined from Rs. 01 million – 05 million.
The CAA has been conducting raids in this regard island wide with some offenders being fined over Rs. 03 million.
