Govt. overdraft is over a trillion rupees! – Ranil
Former Prime minister – Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the government overdraft is over one trillion rupees at the present.
He was speaking in Parliament today (08).
Mr. Wickremesinghe stated that country is facing a political as well as a economic Nonagathaya (inauspicious time) at the present.
He also said that it is the duty of the President to address the public.
Speaking on deploying the Army as protests against the government continue in the country, Mr. Wickremesinghe said that he is of the view that the Army should not be deployed at this point.”Police is responsible for the civil power. If only if the civil power breaks down, the army is called in. The civil power has not broken down in this country,” he said.
