ACCUSED FOR FORGING COURT DOCUMENTS REGISTRAR FURTHER REMANDED

Registrar of Fort Magistrate’s Court further remanded

The Registrar of the Fort Magistrate’s Court has been further remanded until 05 November, on orders of the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.

The registrar was arrested on Friday evening (13 Oct.), over several allegations including the forging of documents.

She had allegedly forged documents indicating that a suspect’s foreign travel ban was lifted by the court. Reportedly, the counterfeit documents had directed the Controller General of Immigration & Emigration to permit the suspect to travel overseas.

Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage had lodged a complaint with the CID against the registrar in question.

Meanwhile, a second suspect was also arrested in connection with the incident on 17 October, and was remanded until 25 October, also on orders of the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
