Sri Lanka rejects references made by Canadian Prime Minister

Sri Lanka’s has rejected statement made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claiming that genocide took place in Sri Lanka during the war.

Sri Lanka rejects references made by the Canadian Prime Minister in his statement of 23 July 2024
Sri Lanka vehemently reiterates its rejection of the allegation of genocide in Sri Lanka in the statement issued on 23 July 2024 by the Canadian Prime Minister. Sri Lanka’s position on this matter has been previously reiterated to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

This allegation arising from local domestic vote bank politics in Canada is not conducive to unity and communal harmony in both Sri Lanka and Canada.
