New alliance led by Anura to contest under ‘chair’ symbol
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) faction led by Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and the “New Alliance” today (Aug. 14) launched a new alliance under the name “Podujana Eksath Peramuna” (People’s Alliance).
Anura Priyadarshana Yapa has been named as the leader of the new alliance while Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Chamara Sampath Dassanayake named as General Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
During the event, SLFP Treasurer State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna announced the positions within the alliance, which also includes a leadership council of 21 members including the Chairman of SLFP, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
The newly-formed alliance plans to contest the upcoming elections under the symbol of the ‘chair’.
