President Ranil Wickremesinghe has created a new tradition of assaulting peaceful protesters to quell public protests, National People’s Power Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated.

Addressing a media briefing today, MP Dissanayake displayed photographs of anti-riot squad personnel with iron rods and wooden sticks while on duty to contain protests.

He further questioned the legal provisions that allow deploying such armed forces to contain peaceful protests. (NewsWire)
