Social media activist demands Rs 100 mn compensation from police

 

Social Media Activist Anuruddha Bandara has filed a Fundamental Rights (FR) application at the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka against his arrest and detention.

Earlier this month, Bandara was apprehended by the Modara Crime Division for operating a Facebook page called ‘Gota Go Home’.

A public uproar was caused after his sudden disappearance, following which the Modara Crime Division had revealed his arrest to the public.

Anuruddha Bandara yesterday filed an FR petition seeking a ruling from the Supreme Court stating that his arrest and detention were a violation of his fundamental rights.

The social media activist has also requested for a compensation of Rs. 100 million through his petition. (NewsWire)
