Consumers drink water and only look at the food – Asela
President of the Restaurant Owners’ Association Asela Sampath says that due to the increase in the prices of food and beverages, the consumption of food from hotels and restaurants has decreased by about 50%.
He also claims that the number of people coming to hotels and restaurants and drinking a glass or two of water and looking at the food has increased.
He noted that around 80% of the hotels and restaurants throughout the country have been forced to close down due to the fuel and gas crisis.
Under the current situation, the hotel workers have left their jobs and gone for hired labour work and if the fuel problem continues, there is a risk that all the hotels and restaurants across the country may have to close down.
