Laws on declaring politicians’ assets & liabilities to be amended
The Ministry of Justice has decided to amend the law on presenting the statement of assets and liabilities of politicians.
The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Reform, Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksha stated that a new bill will be brought to deal with the matter in a more transparent manner.The minister said that at the same time, legislation has also been enacted to establish a new commission with more powers to replace the existing Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption.
Minister Rajapaksha noted that the work is being done in accordance with the United Nations Anti-Corruption Charter.
