Athurugiriya shooting : Attention shifts to KPI?
Police suspect that the Athurugiriya shooting that took place today morning (July 08), was a meticulously planned contract killing orchestrated from abroad.
Addressing the media, police spokesman – DIG Nihal Thalduwa has said that the shooting done using two T-56 firearms, had killed 02 including Surendra Wasantha Perera, also known as “Club Wasantha” and injured 04 others.
The injured persons are being treated at the Colombo National Hospital and the Homagama Hospital.
Responding to queries, DIG Thalduwa also confirmed that a cartridge at the crime scene had KPI engraved in it.
Accordingly, law enforcement officials suspect whether underworld leader – Kanjipani Imran, who is currently overseas, is linked to the incident.
