Wimal calls Basil ‘Ugly American’
Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa has stated that he will not accept any ministerial position under the incumbent President.
He was speaking to media in Colombo today (04), after he and Udaya Gammanpila were stripped of their ministerial portfolios last evening.

Further mounting criticism on Finance minister – Basil Rajapaksa, Weerawansa referred to him as ‘The Ugly American’, stating that the country is being taken to a situation where Indonesia had to face in 1997.
“The real issue is with Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa. He has to spend his retired life in the US. So he is on a contract with the US and to ensure he is not caught under money laundering, he is betraying this country,” Weerawansa said.
