At least 13 injured as bus carrying students, parents topples into canal

At least thirteen persons, including school children, were injured and hospitalized after a bus transporting a group of students and parents toppled into a canal in Warakapola town this morning (9).

The incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. while the bus was transporting students and their parents from Sri Rahula Balika Maha Vidyalaya in Malabe.

Twenty-six girl guides from the school and seven parents were en route to a girl guides’ camp in Rantambe when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to topple into the canal.

The injured students and parents were admitted to the Warakapola Hospital for treatment.

Warakapola Police are conducting further investigations.

    Rs. 1,500 fine for the driver. Why? He and the bus owner is linked to politicians. No court case, no compensation, no judgement . If court case is pursued those children will be grandparents when verdict is delivered.
