Chichi absent from SLPP office opening at Yanthampalawa ; PM takes a detour
Following yesterday’s (05) inauguration of the Narammala Pradeshiya Sabha building complete with a public library, PM Mahinda Rajapaksa had gone to open the new coordinating office in Yanthampalawa area.
Although media reports earlier stated that the PM’s private secretary – Rohitha Rajapaksa (Chichi) would be present at the office opening, he had been notably absent.
It is said that coordinating work of this office was planned to be handed over to Rohitha Rajapaksa.
Tharanath Covid-19 positive Meanwhile, former MP – Tharanath Basnayake, who was to attend yesterday’s events held under the auspices of the PM, had tested positive for Covid-19 during a Rapid Antigen test done at the site.
Accordingly, he had taken health precautions without attending the event, reports say.
PM’s entourage takes a detour Following the inauguration at Narammala, the PM was to initially reach Yanthampalawa via the Narammala – Kurunegala main road. However, in order to avoid the traffic conditions that was in place due to sevel fuel queues on the route, the entourage had taken a detour via the central expressway.
