Overseas mastermind suspected in Club Wasantha murder – Police

Sri Lankan businessman Surendra Wasantha Perera, also known as “Club Wasantha,” was shot dead alongside another person in what police suspect was a meticulously planned contract killing orchestrated from abroad.

The attack unfolded at a tattoo parlor in Athurugiriya. Armed with T56 rifles, the assailants targeted the victims in a brutal assault that left four others injured.

According to Police spokesperson, initial investigations suggest the attackers arrived in a car, later found abandoned in Koratota, Kaduwela. CCTV footage captures the suspects ditching the car on the roadside and fleeing in a van.

While no suspects have been identified yet, police have received initial information suggesting the planning may have originated outside Sri Lanka. Authorities are actively pursuing several leads and intensifying efforts to trace the suspects’ movements and origins.

A manhunt is underway to apprehend those responsible for the crime. The injured are receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital and the Homagama Hospital )
