COMPLAINTS MADE ON DEATH THREATS TO IGP IGNORED

Journalist Lasantha Ruhunage continues to be threatened, complaints ignore

Deputy Editor of the ‘Anidda’ national newspaper, senior journalist Lasantha Ruhunage has not received a response for two complaints he has made regarding the continuous death threats he has been receiving.

The Sri Lanka Professional Journalists’ Association has revealed that the threats were made on 077 3037462.

It is reported that the union had first lodged a complaint with the IGP on December 04 last year (2021) and later on February 16.

Lasantha Ruhunage, a resident of the Modara Police Division in Colombo, is the Deputy Editor and News Editor of the ‘Anidda’ newspaper, as well as a former President of the Sri Lanka Association of Professional Journalists and currently a member of the Executive Committee, according to the complaint lodged by the Ceylon Professional Journalists Association.
