Two petitions filed by a group of parliamentarians seeking a writ order directing the Elections Commission to hold the Local Government polls were ordered to be taken up for consideration on January 18.

The petitions were called in before the Supreme Court Judge-bench consisting of Justices Priyantha Jayawardene, Kumuduni Wickramasinghe and Achala Vengappuli today (16).
