Assault on GotaGoGama protesters debate on Wednesday!
A debate regarding the removal of the protesters from the Colombo Galle Face “GotaGoGama” protest site is scheduled to be held in Parliament on Wednesday (27).
The Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella, requested Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to convene the Parliament on Monday (25) to discuss the matter.
As it is practically difficult to convene the Parliament on Monday and summon the MPs due to the fuel crisis, the government intends to debate the issue when Parliament meets on Wednesday, to pass the emergency law gazette notification.
As assaulting the protesters and removing them forcibly is an illegal and undemocratic act, it is vital to have a debate on it, said the Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella.
