PSD vehicle crashes in Thalawa
A Defender vehicle belonging to the Presidential Secretariat was involved in an accident in the Thalawa area early this morning (February 01), leaving four individuals hospitalized, according to the **Thalawa Police**.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. while the vehicle was returning to **Colombo** following an event held in Jaffna yesterday (January 31).
Following the accident, the injured individuals were initially rushed to Thalawa Hospital in another vehicle accompanying them. They were later transferred to **Anuradhapura Hospital** for further treatment.
Hospital sources confirmed that two of the injured were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to the severity of their injuries.
It has been reported that the driver involved in the accident is an employee of the Presidential Secretariat, while the other injured iindividuals are officers from the **Presidential Security Unit**, attached to the Sri Lanka Police.
Preliminary investigations by the Thalawa Police suggest that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the accident.
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident.
