DESPITE GAS PRICES TO BE SLASHED FOOD PRICES TO REMAIN SAME AS BASIC FOOD STUFFS HAVE NO STATIC PRICES

Unable to slash food prices despite gas price drop
President of Restaurant Owners Association – Asela Sampath says that they are unable to decrease food prices even if LP Gas prices come down tomorrow (05).

Earlier today, it was reported that Litro intends to decrease LP Gas prices by Rs. 200 – 500 from tomorrow (05) midnight.

Mr. Sampath points out that there is a discrepancy in prices at different locations, he says for example, Dhal is still priced at Rs. 600 in non urban areas, while it is only Rs. 400 in urban areas. He requests authorities to sell basic foodstuff and goods in rural areas to the same price as the urban areas.

Therefore, due to these price discrepancies, we are unable to lower the prices, he says.

Kottu up by Rs. 100 again!Mr. Sampath has also said that the price of a Kottu has increased by Rs. 100 yesterday, and other food, such as rolls, Parotta and roti have increased by Rs. 10-15.The price increase was carried out due to the increase in wheat flour prices and the existing shortage of wheat flour, he says.
