Supreme Court Decides To Hear MP Diana Gamage's Petition Against Samagi Jana Balawegaya
The Supreme Court has decided to hear a petition filed by Diana Gamage, a Member of Parliament for the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, seeking an order quashing her decision to lose her seat.
The petition was taken up before a three-judge bench comprising Preethi Padman Surasena, Gamini Amarasekera and Shiran Gunaratne today.
Accordingly, the court directed the respondents to file their objections to the petition before December 13.
The petition names Samagi Jana Balawegaya Secretary General Ranjith Maddumabandara, Leader Sajith Primadasa, Parliamentary Secretary Dhammika Dasanayake, Election Commission Chairman Nihal G. Punchihewa and Elections Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake as members of the Commission.
