Intelligence units have failed – Dilum
The Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama said today (01) that the intelligence units had not given any advance notice that there is a threat to the lives of the President and the First Lady.The minister had said this at a special media brief held this morning.
He added that intelligence units had merely uncovered information about a protest near the President’s residence in Mirihana, but had said nothing about them becoming violent.
Noting that intelligence units had therefore failed, the minister called for reforms. He said that the reverse had happened during the Easter Sunday Bombings, where nothing was done despite prior warnings by intelligence units.
