President rescues young girl from crowd during NPP rally
– President Anura Kumara Dissanayake was met with loud cheers after swiftly rescuing a young girl who got trapped in a crowd during a National People’s Power (NPP) rally held in Samanthurai last Saturday (12).
As the President arrived, a large crowd gathered around the stage, cheering and moving closer to shake hands with him. Many attendees took selfies with the President during the rally.
After the event, when the President was about to leave via the stage staircase, a large group of supporters gathered near the steps to greet him. The crowd became so dense that even the security personnel struggled to maintain control.
During this moment, the President noticed a young girl struggling in the crowd. Acting quickly, he personally intervened, lifting her to safety to prevent any injury. A video of the incident shows the President gently checking on the girl and asking if she had been hurt. He then handed her over to the security personnel.
The crowd in Samanthurai responded with enthusiastic applause, showing appreciation for the President’s compassion and quick action.
