Presidential Election 2024 : Statement from EC
The National Election Commission has confirmed that the nominations of 39 candidates have been accepted for the 2024 Presidential Election.
Issuing a statement, the Election Commission said despite 40 candidates having placed deposits to contest the election, only 39 candidates had submitted their nominations during the nomination process today.
The Election Commission further said that the nominations of all 39 candidates had been accepted clearing them to contest the Presidential Polls scheduled for September 21.
Among the accepted candidates, 22 are from recognized political parties, 1 from other parties and 16 independent candidates.
The Election Commission announced that the 2024 Presidential Election will be conducted from 07.00 am to 04.00 pm on September 21.
