Tax on imported dates slashed by Rs. 199
The Finance Ministry has decided to drop the Special Commodity Tax imposed on a kilogram of imported dates by Rs. 199/-.
The tax which stood at Rs. 200/- will now be Rs. 1/-, the ministry said in a statement.
The statement noted that the measure was takento provide relief to the Sri Lankan Muslim community for the upcoming Ramazan fasting period.
