FIREWORKS SALES LOWERED TO UNPRECEDENTED LOW FIGURES DISTRESSES MANUFACTURERS

Fireworks sales see sharp dip

Fireworks sales have dropped by about 80 percent and wholesale prices have risen by about 100 percent, according to fireworks manufacturers.

The manufacturers say that this situation is clear when comparing prices before the 2019 Easter attack.Due to current import restrictions, the supply of aluminum, a key element needed for ammunition and products, has become scarce, a manufacturer said.

He further said that raw materials are being sold in bulk so that small scale industrialists cannot afford to buy them.

Kimbulapitiya firecracker sellers point out that despite the increase in the prices of fireworks products in April, the current increase is at a very high level.
