Many traders arrested over rice irregularities
The Consumer Affairs Authority says that several traders were arrested during raids on rice irregularities.
Accordingly, the Authority has identified 186 traders who were selling rice at higher prices during over 2000 raids carried out.
According to the authority, 479 traders were arrested and prosecuted for not displaying prices and refusing to sell rice.
The Authority also imposed a fine of Rs. 3.2 million on those convicted in 22 cases.
