Cricket Crisis : Former Sports Minister Namal reveals opinion
Politicians and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials should resolve whatever disputes that have arisen between them, SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa said.
“SLC and the politicians should resolve their disputes for the sake of sports and for the betterment of the players. It is Sri Lanka’s cricket which is going to be affected as a result of disputes,” MP Rajapaska said.
MP Rajapaksa said that the country will lose directly and indirectly about USD 100 million due to the cricket ban imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
MP Rajapaksa who was previously Minister of Sports said he managed to resolve whatever issues that arose between sports bodies and politicians through dialogue.
“Politicians should not use sports to resolve internal political issues within the government ” he also said.
While highlighting that Rugby and Football had also suffered the same fate as cricket, he said this should not be the case continuously.
