Media takes on Gnanakka
A famous fortune teller from Anuradhapura, known as Gnanakka, is the focus of a media onslaught, as she is alleged to be an advisor to the rulers of the country.
Speaking today (13) at at an event held to establish the Women’s Wing of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya in Meerigama electorate, former parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra stated “Today the country is being led by a woman in Anuradhapura.
“While the public goes in search of the president to air their grievances, he in turn goes in search of Gnanakka for advice. Is it correct to lay the fate of the country on a woman who tells fortunes by invoking Goddess Kali? Ministerial posts, ruling the country, all are done according to her recommendations,” she added.
Gnanakka’s predictions
The weekend Lankadeepa newspaper meanwhile, reported on Gnanakka and her predictions that have come true. She is also known as Gnana Maniyo by those who seek her blessings. Her most famous prediction was reportedly stating that a person who sought her help to get the second chair of the country, would instead be seated on the first chair.
