04 stamps issued to mark 200 years of Peradeniya Botanical Gardens
The event was held under the aegis of Tourism and Lands Ministry Secretary Chulananda Perera at the Auditorium of the Botanical Gardens last evening (12).
The stamps include scenic images of four iconic locations of the Royal Botanical Gardens: Umbrella Tree and National Herbarium, Scenic landscape of a pond and a border, Ribbon border; Christmas Cake and Christmas Tree and the Gardner Memorial.Kandy District Secretary Chandana Thennakone, Deputy Postmaster General Rajitha K. Ranasinghe, Director General of National Botanical Gardens Department Shelomani Krishnaraja, Director General of Agriculture Department Dr. Ajantha de Silva, Director of Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens Dr. Achala Attanayake, Central Provincial Director of Postal Department Sharmila De Silva were also present at the occasion.
