Preparations underway for GCE OL next week

The Commissioner of Examinations – L.M.D. Dharmasrna has said that all preparations are being taken to hold the GCE Ordinary Level exams which will start next Monday (23).

He said that the new deadline to end seminars and tuition will be on Friday midnight (20). Earlier, the deadline was announced by authorities as May 17.The Commissioner of Examinations was speaking at a special media briefing held at the Information Department today.

It was also mentioned that due to prevailing transport difficulties, the Sri Lanka Transport Board has taken measures to deploy extra buses and Sisu Seriya buses while normal train services will also be functioning.A total of 517496 applicants (407129 school applicants and 110367 private applicants) will sit for this year’s exam. 3844 exam centres and 542 coordination centres have been set up.

590 children with special needs will sit for this year’s exam and facilities have been set for them while, candidates who have tested Covid-19 positive will also be able to sit for the exam in a seperate room in their examination centre, officials further said
