Singapore grants approval for Gota to extend stay by another two weeks!
The Singaporean authorities have decided to allow former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to stay in Singapore for another two weeks.
Accordingly, foreign media have further reported that former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been given permission to stay in the country until August 11.
On July 14, the former president had arrived in Singapore from the Maldives on a Saudi Airlines flight.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that an international organization has also filed a criminal complaint with the Attorney General of Singapore demanding the arrest of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.He was accused of his actions during the civil war in Sri Lanka in 2009.
A group of activists of a South African-based organization have filed a criminal complaint with the Attorney General of Singapore, demanding that former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa be arrested based on the way he acted during the country’s civil war, according to Reuters news service.The group called “International Truth and Justice Project” which filed the complaint says that during the war in 2009, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who was the Defense Secretary at the time, had seriously violated the Geneva Conventions.
