The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) says that guidelines will be issued on how government institutions should conduct operations.
HRCSL commissioner – Attorney Nimal Punchihewa says these guidelines are expected to be issued on the 11th of December following the International Human Rights Day on Dec. 10.
Noting that more attention will be paid to institutions such as police, prisons and probation, he says that this will also focus on issues such as how to act after a person has been arrested and the care and treatment of a mentally ill person when admitted.
