Sajith to form a govt.!
With the resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday (09), President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is expected to invite Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa to form a government, government sources said.
If the opposition is not ready to form a government, the president will invite all parties in parliament to form an all-party government, the sources said.
The Chief Prelates of the three Chapters, including the Malwathu and Asgiriya Chief Prelates, and a group of independent parliamentarians who left the government have already proposed to the government to form an all-party interim government to help the country recover from the crisis.
In the event Sajith Premadasa is unwilling to form a government, discussions are underway to form a government with a team headed by Patali Champika Ranawaka, it is reported.
