President Ranil Wickremesinghe has extended the tenure of incumbent police chief Chandana Wickramaratna by a period of 03 months, reports ‘The Leader’ website.

The website adds that during a meeting chaired by the President earlier today (24), the President has also told SDIG Deshabandu Tennakoon, that he would be appointed as the next IGP.

Minister of Public Security – Tiran Alles, President’s Secretary – Saman Ekanayake as well as current IGP – Chandana Wickramaratna had also attended the meeting, it further notes.
