Higher demand for passports – Immigration and Emigration department extends services!
The demand for passports has increased significantly, leading to long queues where the situation at regional offices has become unmanageable.
The average number of passports issued per day is around 2,500.
However, due to the unnatural demand for passports from around the end of April, it has become impossible to continue the service, the Department of Immigration and Emigration said.
Although the department had taken steps to extend their service hours from 6.00 am to 10.00 pm the situation in the regional offices has still not settled.
