SL to get only 11 votes in Geneva?
It is reported that only 11 votes will be cast in favor of Sri Lanka during the resolution moved at the UNHRC in Geneva.
Citing reports, the ‘Deshaya’ newspaper says that 22-24 votes will be cast in favour of the resolution while around 12 countries are to abstain.
The draft resolution has been sponsored by several countries including UK, US, Germany, Canada and Montenegro and includes a number of recommendations such as reducing the defence budget, demilitarization of the North and East and measures on economic crimes.
The vote on the resolution is to be held between October 04 – 06.
