Cadmore smashes 92 as Jaffna Kings beat Colombo Stars by 102 runs

Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Jaffna Kings opener, who made a brisk innings of 92 with 5 fours and 8 sixes off 55 balls.
Opener Tom Kholer-Cadmore made a blistering knock of 92 in 55 balls as Jaffna Kings made a comprehensive 102 runs win over Colombo Stars in their LPL cricket fixture played at R. Premadasa International cricket stadium yesterday.

This was the biggest win by runs in LPL while Colombo Stars were never really in the chase and repeated struggling by Jaffna Kings the table leaders with 12 points with their sixth consecutive win.

Colombo Stars chasing a target of 194 were bowled out for 91 in 15.5 overs with outstanding bowling performance by paceman Jayden Seales who got 4 for 13 in his 2.5 over spell with one maiden while 20-year-old leg spinner of Jaffna Central Vijayakanth Viyaskanth who played his first game finished with 3 for 32.

Colombo Stars were unable to make a good start with opener Angelo Mathews was out early in 3rd over scoring only ten runs while he attempted for a sweep shot but Theekshana got an easy return catch to dismiss Mathews which was their prize wicket. However, skipper Thisara Perera well controlled the game by using his bowlers at right time to dismiss Colombo Stars for 91 in 15.5 overs while Tom Banton was the only successful batter scoring 30 in 33 balls with four boundaries.

Cadmore reached his fifty in 32 balls hit two fours and six sixes while Upul Tharanga made a fine supporting role to add 110 runs open wicket stand which was the highest first-wicket partnership so far in this tournament. Tharanga was first to go out, scoring 37 in 33 balls with four fours and leg Spinner Jeffrey Vandasay making a breakthrough at 12th over while Tom Banton holds a catch at long-on to dismiss Tharanga.

Cadmore and Ashan Randika who played his first game added 41 runs second-wicket stand while Dushmantha Chameera changed his pace to depart Randika who scored 16 at 16th over.

Cadmore the star batter of the day was, unfortunately, missed his century just eight runs away 92 finally trapped LBW to Naveen ul-Haq at the 17th over and the third umpire confirmed this decision to dismiss Cadmore who finished best innings of the tournament hit 92 with five fours and eight sixes which also included most sixes in an innings of this tournament as well as his knock highest individual total so far in this tournament.

Wanindu Hasaranga who scored 19 not out in just 7 balls hit three fours and a six providing the finishing touches while paceman Naveen ul- Haq was the successful Colombo Stars bowler with 3 for 27.

Tom Kholer-Cadmore was adjudged ‘man of the match’for his majestic knock of 92.
