New political alliance “Jana Jaya Peramuna” to launch on September 5
The Jana Jaya Peramuna, a new political alliance led by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, will be officially launched on September 5 at Water’s Edge.
Formed by Members of Parliament who have broken away from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, along with members from other political parties, the alliance aims to field candidates in all upcoming elections.
The Jana Jaya Peramuna’s first move will be to submit nominations for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha election by September 12.
State Minister Janaka Wakkumbura emphasized that the alliance is expected to be a broad coalition capable of contesting future elections.
Wakkumbura also noted that according to the 2023 voter registry, an additional one million young voters could participate in the upcoming elections.
