The agreement between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Environment on the “Capacity Development for Plastic Management” project was signed yesterday (29).
It was signed by Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Anil Jasinghe, and the Chief Representative of JICA in Sri Lanka, Yamada Tetsuya, at the Ministry.
Officials including the Chairman and the Director General of the Central Environment Authority and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Environment participated in this event.
Under the three-year project, which is scheduled to commence in 2023, a plastic management center is planned to be established in the Central Environment Authority. This project will implement capacity building programmes related to plastic waste management.
